Have you ever been going down life’s path only to find yourself suddenly pursuing something totally bizarre and out of the ordinary?
That’s just what happened to me last month. I was set to start writing my second book when I had a crazy idea come to me. And what was this crazy idea? “Start a YouTube Channel!”
Honestly, I’d never thought about becoming a YouTube creator. But rather quickly everything I needed came together. Video equipment, video editing software, artistic supplies and lots of creative ideas flowed my way.
I found myself immersed in creating and editing video- something totally foreign to me. I was in over my head but loving every minute of it.
I found someone totally awesome on YouTube. How I found her, I’ll never know. But thanks to Gillian Perkins, I had a system I could follow to get my channel up and running. She offered two downloads which I faithfully used as checklists.
I recommend finding her on YouTube and getting these downloads if you plan on launching your own channel. She walks you through creating the name for your channel, planning content and doing some channel excersices. The excersise I found most helpful was creating 100 episode ideas. Now, I don’t have to struggle week to week for ideas. I just pull out my episode idea sheet and am good to go.
The channel launch process stretched all my capacities. I’ve been stretched to start dreaming again, be creative, and to learn new computer programs. But mostly I’ve been stretched to have confidence in myself to pursue something I never thought possible.
Today, if you hear a small inner voice tell you to do something which will stretch yourself in the ways I’ve described I think you should GO FOR IT! It’s worth a shot to pursue an idea even if it’s out of the ordinary and it might bring you joy which you’d never found otherwise.
