Recently I read a book called “Big Magic- Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Elizabeth puts forth the idea that we give up what brings us joy because it does not produce an income. This idea is what hit closest to home for me and inspired my latest video.
In my early twenties I gave up on my art because I was finding success in the world of business. While I believe my artistic background helped me in business and gave me an edge creating color stories for customers, I never realized I could have done both all along until after reading “Big Magic”!
I could have used art as an escape from stress and I could have honed my skills in my off time all the while making a living at something else. This is where I think we could do better helping others by letting them know life’s purpose is not always an either/or. It can be this AND that. Our job and our passion can co-exist. So, whatever your passion is, I hope today you begin to pursue it or pursue it AGAIN! ~Anne
