When you find yourself in an impossible situation I wonder if you are in a test of patience. While in a test of patience you will be under extreme pressure to make a decision. You have two choices:
- Take matters in your own hands
- Wait for the Lord to act
I would encourage you to wait on the Lord no matter what kind of pressure you feel to do otherwise.
Patience is a beginning test. It’s a test of entrance into something great. However, while in the test you don’t know that greatness lies on the other side.
Some in the Bible did not pass their tests of patience like Moses who felt connected to the Hebrew slaves and killed an Egyptian. He then waited in the desert 40 years before seeing the burning bush.
Then their was the nation of Israel who decided to make an image of a golden calf to worship instead of accepting the invitation from God to ascend His Holy Mountain. They wound up walking around the desert for 40 years.
King Saul while in a test of patience did not wait on God. He took matters into his own hands with disastrous results: his kingdom was taken away and he lost the opportunity to have Jesus come through his lineage. (1 Samuel 13) God then sought another and found David.
All the patriarchs went through tests of patience and had to choose to wait on God. The apostles and 200 waited with one mind for God’s promise and received Holy Spirit.
